{"id":3387,"date":"2021-11-10T08:19:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T19:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/?p=3387"},"modified":"2021-11-10T09:50:33","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T20:50:33","slug":"5-exercises-to-do-during-rush-our","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/5-exercises-to-do-during-rush-our\/","title":{"rendered":"5 exercises to do during rush our"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We\u2019ve all been there.&nbsp; It\u2019s the end of the day, you\u2019re cruising homeward, and suddenly everything comes to a grinding halt.&nbsp; While the team at My Auto Shop love to spend their time making it easy for you to find and book a mechanic, we know it\u2019s not always the solution to every challenge you find with your car.&nbsp; We haven\u2019t quite figured out the traffic part, yet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As such, sitting in traffic can often be pretty stressful, and <a href=\"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/5-ways-to-steer-clear-of-road-rage\/\">sometimes lead to road rage<\/a>.&nbsp; We thought it\u2019d be cool to share some easy exercises you can do to build your inner strength and hopefully also calm your mind a little as well!&nbsp; You could build this into a mini workout routine and give yourself some virtue points in the process!<br><br><strong>1.&nbsp; Chin up!&nbsp; Let\u2019s strengthen your jaw.&nbsp;<\/strong><br>Okay, this one is actually pretty funny because people will probably be able to see you, but if you just extend your jaw out and move it up and down a few times, you\u2019re going to give yourself an excellent stretch and remove a lot tension from this area, which is actually where we store a fair amount of stress.&nbsp; Feel free to through some chewing gum into this mix!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.&nbsp; Strengthening your core. <\/strong>&nbsp;<br>We know core strength is all the rage right now, so here\u2019s a great exercise you can do to build up your abdominal strength.&nbsp; Suck in your belly, then push your lower belly downwards and pull your belly button towards your back.&nbsp; This will create a nice contraction which you can then swiftly release &#8212; and watch yourself relax in the process!&nbsp; Work it up to about 12-15 reps for the best results. Do it fast, and you\u2019re basically doing breathwork.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.&nbsp; Sit up, and push up<\/strong>!<br>This is a great one for the upper body.&nbsp; But&nbsp; don\u2019t do this exercise while you\u2019re moving, because it involves using the steering wheel as a pull up bar.&nbsp; Please, be sensible when you do this.&nbsp; Straight lines, straight lines!&nbsp;<br><br>Hold onto the wheel with your hand sitting neatly at 10 and 2, then squeeze your shoulder blades together and pull yourself towards the wheel and then back again.&nbsp; In terms of reps, you should get a nice stretch after repeating this 5 or so times.&nbsp; But remember, safety first!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.&nbsp; Ease tension in your lower back and strengthen your spine<\/strong><br>Unfortunately, car seats don\u2019t always offer the best in back support, and it can sometimes get pretty sore.&nbsp; I\u2019ve found the best spinal exercise for the car is to sit with your back slightly arched, then pull yourself closer to the wheel.&nbsp; Tense those abdominals and focus on your breathing (belly breathing is best).&nbsp; You should improve your range of motion, but you\u2019ll need to wait to get out of the car to feel it properly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.&nbsp; Easy thigh toning<\/strong><br>Again, you\u2019ll need to make sure you\u2019re sitting stationary for this exercise.&nbsp; It\u2019s great for people who want to feel the burn!&nbsp; Keep one foot flat on the floor, hip width apart (perfect for the car, right?) and then lift your other leg slightly, pushing against it with your hand.&nbsp; We\u2019re creating an inner tension here that goes above and beyond what you might expect!&nbsp; Try to work this for about 10 reps and see how you feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With all of these exercises, use your best judgement as to whether it\u2019s appropriate and sensible in terms of the traffic.&nbsp; Also, don\u2019t overdo your workout.&nbsp; You\u2019re not actually at the gym, so you don\u2019t want to injure yourself and need to pull over to the side of the road.&nbsp; We\u2019re here to make rush hour traffic easier!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve all been there.&nbsp; It\u2019s the end of the day, you\u2019re cruising homeward, and suddenly everything comes to a grinding halt.&nbsp; While the team at My Auto Shop love to spend their time making it easy for you to find and book a mechanic, we know it\u2019s not always the solution to every challenge you [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":3388,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"single-wrapped-thumbnail.php","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[135,4],"tags":[216,217,218,220,219],"post_folder":[],"class_list":["post-3387","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-driving-tips","category-fun","tag-car","tag-exercise","tag-health","tag-heavy-traffic","tag-rush-hour"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3387"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/10"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3387"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3387\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3407,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3387\/revisions\/3407"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3388"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3387"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3387"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3387"},{"taxonomy":"post_folder","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/post_folder?post=3387"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
