With the summer sun now shining into directly into our eyes (cue sunglasses), we thought it might be time to give you the down-low on how to change your vehicle\u2019s (probably) dirty air filter, if you need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does the air filter do, exactly? Your air filter stops dirt and debris from entering your car\u2019s engine and causing irreparable damage.  Cool, eh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Your air filter needs to be changed regularly \u2013  or when gets clogged up.  Not doing so can cause an unnecessary increase in fuel consumption and a loss of power if not replaced, as it confines the amount of air entering the engine rather than filtering it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, it\u2019s pretty easy to replace your air filter.  That said, if you\u2019re not confident \u2013 don\u2019t try this at home!  My Auto Shop has got you covered<\/a>, with the labour the parts, to keep things hassle-free on your end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, if you\u2019re up to it (!) here\u2019s the steps you\u2019ll need to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to replace your car\u2019s air filter<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. The first step is to determine where the air box is located.<\/li>
  2. The air box is positioned to one side of the engine when the vehicle’s bonnet is opened. Clamps or screws can be used to hold it together.<\/li>
  3. To gain access to the filter, undo the bolts and take the top of the box away.<\/li>
  4. Examine the filter after removing it from the package. Hold it up to a light source to examine how obstructed it is, and if the light is difficult to see through the filter, it’s time to replace it.<\/li>
  5. Remove the filter from the air box and inspect the inside for any leaves or debris, then clean it out if necessary.<\/li>
  6. Replace the air filter, tighten the bolts, and you’re finished!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
