{"id":3957,"date":"2021-12-16T11:00:56","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T22:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/?p=3957"},"modified":"2021-12-16T11:02:07","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T22:02:07","slug":"top-5-best-new-zealand-drives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/myautoshop.co.nz\/info\/top-5-best-new-zealand-drives\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 best New Zealand drives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It\u2019s no secret, New Zealand is a fantastic place to live if you\u2019re a driver.&nbsp; From the North Island to the South Island, there\u2019s no shortage of magical twists and turns to enjoy, whether you\u2019re rolling solo, or with friends and family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the classic Kiwi summer upon us, we at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myautoshop.co.nz\">MyAutoShop<\/a> wanted to share our favourite long distance drives you can enjoy this year with the Covid-19 border restrictions now lifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coromandel Peninsula (North)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in Thames and winding its way through small West Coast Coromandel towns and picturesque coves, these are the magical twists and turns we were talking about.&nbsp; There\u2019s no need for speed here, bit definitely a bit of focus is required to ensure you meet those corners with ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Milford Road (South)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting out in the South Island town of Te Anau, this stretch of highway leads you deep into the incredible Fiordland National Park, eventually taking you out to the stunning Milford Sound.&nbsp; This is one you absolutely can\u2019t miss \u2013 bucket list stuff!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Desert Road<\/strong> <strong>(North)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever road tripped the North Island, it\u2019s likely you\u2019ve been on the desert road, but no list is complete without its mention.&nbsp; The Desert Road showcases the North Island\u2019s famous volcanoes \u2013 Mount Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. To the West you\u2019ll see the Kaimanawa Range, famous for its appearance in the Lord of the Rings trilogy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Queen Charlotte Drive (South)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another South Island favourite, the Queen Charlotte Drive is found in Marlborough, and it\u2019s super winding road rates amongst the best coastal drives in the whole world.&nbsp; You\u2019ll get the best of both words with idyllic bays nestled in isolated spots, and of course Aotearoa\u2019s incredible native forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Thermal Explorer Highway (North)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thermal Explorer Highway stretched right from Auckland, down through the middle of the North Island, and ends on coastal Napier.&nbsp; It\u2019s the perfect road trip for anyone who wants to experience <em>everything<\/em> Aotearoa has to offer.&nbsp; You\u2019ll see expansive, crystal clear lakes of varying hues of blue and green, bubbling mud pools, explosive geysers and of course, get to take a relaxing bath at the end of your long drive in one of the thermal baths you\u2019re bound to find out on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Feeling inspired?\u00a0 <\/strong>Don\u2019t forget to make sure your road trip vehicle of choice is in tip-top condition before you head out.\u00a0 Head over to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myautoshop.co.nz\/services-index\">MyAutoShop service area<\/a> to get yourself booked in.\u00a0 As beautiful as they are, you don\u2019t want to be broken down on one of those jaw dropping scenic highways \u2013 getting roadside help isn\u2019t easy, and definitely comes at a high premium!
