Panel & paint repair brought to you.
At My Auto Shop, we stand by our work with a 5-year guarantee for all body repairs. 🎨
SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) is a cost-effective and efficient method for repairing minor damage to vehicle panels and paint. The process involves using specialised tools, automotive-grade paints, and materials to repair scratches, dents, and chips in a localised area, without the need to replace entire panels.
My Auto Shop’s SMART repair technicians carefully color-match the paint and use techniques like paintless dent removal (PDR), filling, sanding, and spot painting to seamlessly blend the repaired area with the surrounding panel. This targeted approach saves time and money compared to traditional body shop methods, while still providing a high-quality, durable, and lasting repair that restores the vehicle’s appearance.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of damage can you repair?
We focus on smaller, non structural repairs, roughly the size of an A4 piece of paper or smaller. We can remove dents, scratches, stone chips, repair curbed wheels, and polish out headlights to be like new. Give us a call on (09) 887 8317 if your unsure if its a job for us.
How much does a SMART repair cost?
The cost will depend on the size and location of the damage, type and colour of your paint (if applicable). Most repairs are under the $500 mark, making it cheaper than your insurance excess! When you book we will ask for your vehicle rego and some photos of the damage to help us quote this for you quickly.
How long does a repair take?
Repairs take between an hour and 5 hours, depending on the size and type of damage.
What do you need to perform the repair?
For a mobile accident repair we will need parking available. We need to be able to park within one or two car parking spaces from your vehicle and to have a minimum of three feet either side of your car to work. If your parking space is affected by a height restriction please let us know before confirming the booking.
We will also more than likely need access to your car so please ensure they keys are available.
Is there any damage you cannot fix?
Yes, we are focused on smaller (<A4), cosmetic repairs. We DO NOT repair structural damage. We will assess the repair during the quotation process and let you know if there is a risk we cannot complete the repair.
Does my insurance cover this?
While it is up to you, most repairs we complete fall under the standard $500 excess cost. It makes sense to avoid the risk that your premiums will go up by simply booking our services directly.
What can I expect quality wise?
Due to the size of the repairs and our use of advanced products and painting techniques, we are confident you will be satisfied with the final product. If we are not confident of delivering an outstanding outcome, we won’t take on the job.
Is your work guaranteed?
Absolutely. We back all our panel and paint repairs with a 5-year year guarantee. See below for the details.
What about the environment?
Our mobile techs are fully equipped with full health and safety equipment, protecting themselves and the environment. We also use water based automotive paint, and our hybrid paint booth ensures any paint fumes are controlled in line with regulations.
Our 5-year panel and paint repair guarantee
Nothing makes us happier than repairing someone’s pride and joy back to brand new, but we know it’s much more than just the superficial, it’s got to be a repair that lasts! That’s why our 5-year guarantee covers all body repairs for as long as you own the vehicle.
If, for whatever reason, you are either unhappy with the repair or it deteriorates years after the original repair, get in touch with us. As long as you can produce the original receipt for the work completed (we’ll even email it to you) then we will rectify the work! The guarantee is, however, non-transferable and not valid once the car is sold – any refund or liability shall be limited to the maximum of the value indicated on the repair Invoice.
Just to note, our 5-year guarantee does not cover cases in which our work is not directly responsible for issues encountered, such as:
- Rust or corrosion; whether or not it was evident before the repair was carried out;
- Further accident or impact (including but not limited to stone chipping);
- Inappropriate aftercare, as stated in the instructions supplied upon completion of the repair(s), which includes not washing the vehicle within three days of completion of work;
- The use of corrosive cleaning agents, i.e. acidic alloy wheel cleansers.
Any additional work or improvements are not covered by any guarantee.
