Air Filter Replacement
What is an air filter?
An air filter is connected to the intake of your car's engine. It filters all the air coming into the engine to make sure that there’s no dirt or excess moisture. This helps the engine to run better and more efficiently. It is typically made out of a paper composite fabric/mesh combo.
How do you know when it is time to replace your air filter?
If the engine struggles to accelerate, smells more ‘petrol-ly’ than usual or isn’t getting the same mileage per tank then the air filter may need replacing or cleaning.
What happens during an air filter replacement?
The air filter is located, usually inside the airbox, the filter will be disconnected. In some cases the filter can be cleaned with detergent and blown out with compressed air. If not, then the new filter is connected and tested.
How much does an air filter replacement cost in Whangarei?
It’s not a tough job, the price mainly comes in the type of filter your car needs. If you require a performance air filter then the price will be higher.
Typical air filter replacements will be around $50 going up to above $200.
Is driving with a broken air filter unsafe?
It can harm your fuel economy and it’s best not to let harmful particulates into your engine. It isn’t unsafe to drive with but it might cost you in the wallet department in the long run.
