How a Battery Inspection works with My Auto Shop:

Our mechanics will load test your battery, as well as check the charging system of your vehicle, including the output of the alternator, and quote on necessary replacement or repairs if needed.

When your battery is dead its often as a result of a:

  • Car Lights Left On
  • Door Not Fully Closed
  • Dead Alternator
  • Bad Starter
  • Failed Main Relay

Popular services linked to a Battery Inspection:

Spark Plug Cable Replacement

A spark plug cable is a heavily insulated wire to stop rogue sparks or magnetisation. It travels from the ignition coil or distributor to the spark plug. It carries the 12V charge, that has been converted into a 22,000V charge, to the spark plug.

Battery Replacement

Your car battery is a large electrical storage device that is found within the engine bay. It is filled with electrolyte and lead plates, and is charged by the alternator. It is connected to the car's electrical system between the two attachment poles on the top of the battery. These are the famous ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ terminals. These allow the charge to be transferred through the vehicle to where it is needed and keep everything safe with a good ground.

Power Window Switch Replacement

The power window switch works much the same as any other switch in the car. When you press down on the window button, it completes the circuit. Once the switch is closed power goes to the window regulator to move the window up or down.

Alternator Replacement

It’s a pretty neat piece of kit really! An alternator gets its name from the current it generates - alternating. It generates this current from the belt spinning the electromagnet inside the housing. As this electromagnet spins, it sends a charge to the stators. This is a DC current and the rectifier converts this to AC, the regulator then sends the right amount out so your car can use it. It all sounds really complicated and it is. "
