How a Suspension Inspection works with My Auto Shop:

Our mechanic will raise your car and look underneath for any signs of damage or deterioration. They will then proceed to check for excessive tyre wear, damage to the wheel bearings, springs, shock absorbers or struts. After this they will check the CV joints, and inspect the suspension arms, bars and bushes for signs of damage.

They will then quote up any repairs or replacement parts if required.

When your vehicle shudders when turning its often as a result of a:

  • Failing Power Steering Pump
  • Low Power Steering Fluid
  • Kinked/Blocked Power Steering Line
  • Failing Wheel Bearing
  • Failing Differential

Popular services linked to a Suspension Inspection:

Tie Rod End Replacement

When you turn your steering wheel, you like to think your car will go in that direction. The tie rod is a valuable component in making that happen. When you turn the wheel one tie rod pulls the wheel towards it and the other tie rod pushes the other wheel away from it. This is what turns your car. It is important that these are fitted correctly and doing their job to keep you safe on the road.

CV Joint Replacement

CV joints are far more prevalent nowadays than in older models, this is due to the popularity of front wheel drive in modern cars. They are an often serviced item due to wear and tear as well as being required to be in tip top shape for warrants of fitness.

Sway Bar Link Replacement

Your sway bar is what keeps your car from leaning too far when cornering. It does this by connecting your suspension to its opposite side. The sway bar link is what connects the sway bar to the suspension. It’s usually encased in bushes to prevent annoying squeaks and rattles.

Power Steering Fluid Replacement

Your power steering pump means you don’t need arms like a gorilla to turn your car at low speeds. The power steering pump needs something to pump around to do its job. This is where power steering fluid comes in.
