Rover Heater Fan Motor Replacement
If your air-con air flow has the same force as fanning a napkin on your face then your heater fan motor might need replacing. Rather than have a hot car and annoyed passengers, keep the blower motor working as it should. Not to mention that if your windscreen fogs up you’ll need the blower to clear it so that you can see.
What is a Heater Fan Motor?
The fan motor in the heating and air conditioning system pumps the warm or cold air into the vehicle’s cabin and regulates the speed at which the air is pumped. You typically find the blower motor underneath the passenger side glove box. This makes its replacement quite easy for a trained mechanic.
How do you know when it is time to replace your Heater Fan Motor?
A failing Blower Motor will result in poor air pressure or airflow from the vehicle’s vents. Sometimes the Blower Motor will start making a grinding or whining noise shortly before giving up.
If the air con and demist settings can’t move enough air to clear the windscreen then this might mean the blower motor needs replacing.
Note: a common cause of a failing Blower Motor is a clogged cabin filter.

As it's typically easy to get to, the Blower Motor replacement isn’t complicated. In most cases, the mechanic will remove the passenger side glove box and side panels within the passenger side footwell. The motor’s bolts are removed, electric power cables are disconnected, and the new motor is installed.

Is driving with a broken heater fan motor unsafe?
