Suzuki Side Window Replacement

The side windows in your car roll down in summer to let some fresh air in, keep the sun's rays out and stop rain coming in. If one of them breaks, you’ll need to replace it.

What is a side window?

They’re usually made out of a laminated safety glass so that they don’t shatter if someone broke it. They either function for aesthetic purposes or for practical usage. By being able to see out of the side windows you can be more aware and safer on the road. They are usually powered or manually operated.

Why does your Suzuki need a side window?

They serve a host of useful functions. They come down in summer to let air in, they roll up in winter to keep cold and rain out. They also help with visibility, security and letting light in.

How to tell if you need a new side window

If it’s cracked, chipped or scratched, you’ll need a new window as soon as possible. If it’s something like your side window won’t roll down then it might be a problem with the window winder mechanic.

What’s involved in getting a side window replaced

If it’s set in place and doesn’t move, then the mechanic will trim the seal around the window and pull the old window out. They will then clean the old window surround and re-lay the window gasket. They will then fit the new window and make sure it’s sealed.

If it’s a window that moves, the mechanic will remove any trim and coverings preventing access to the window. The window will be removed as well as any shards of glass or dirt inside the window regulator. The mechanic will then fit the new window and most likely replace the window rubbers at the same time.

How much does a Suzuki side window replacement cost?

Depending on the size of the window and how much the new window costs, expect costs to be in the range of $200 to $600.

How often do I need a side window replaced?

Only if it breaks. It’s not something that gets replaced often.

Is a broken side window unsafe?

It can be to your valuables. Stop someone reaching in and grabbing your stuff, make sure your car is secure and get your side window replaced as soon as possible.
