How a Battery Inspection works with My Auto Shop:

Alternator Replacement
It’s a pretty neat piece of kit really! An alternator gets its name from the current it generates - alternating. It generates this current from the belt spinning the electromagnet inside the housing. As this electromagnet spins, it sends a charge to the stators. This is a DC current and the rectifier converts this to AC, the regulator then sends the right amount out so your car can use it. It all sounds really complicated and it is.
Throttle Position Sensor Replacement
The throttle position sensor is a small device that tells your throttle body how much pressure you’re applying to the accelerator pedal. This means that the right mixture of air/fuel is put into the engine and the car accelerates at the rate you want it too.
Spark Plug Cable Replacement
A spark plug cable is a heavily insulated wire to stop rogue sparks or magnetisation. It travels from the ignition coil or distributor to the spark plug. It carries the 12V charge, that has been converted into a 22,000V charge, to the spark plug.
