Great Wall Throttle Position Sensor Replacement
The throttle position sensor is a small device that tells your throttle body how much pressure you’re applying to the accelerator pedal. This means that the right mixture of air/fuel is put into the engine and the car accelerates at the rate you want it to.
What is a throttle position sensor?
It’s a small sensor that is usually mounted close to the intake manifold and directly connected to the throttle body. It is either connected to the throttle cable or wired to the throttle wire. It then sends a signal to the ECU that uses this information to tell how much air/fuel is required.

The throttle position sensor tells your ECU how much air/fuel is required to make your engine work the way your accelerator wants it to. If it plays up then the engine can misfire or sometimes the ECU will put the car into limp mode.

What’s involved in getting a throttle position sensor replaced?
The mechanic will lift the bonnet and remove any engine coverings. They will then locate the intake manifold and the sensor. They will disconnect the wiring from the TPS and unbolt it from the throttle body. The new throttle position sensor will be fitted and calibrated with all connectors refitted. The engine will be tested and different throttles will be tested making sure everything is working as it should.
