Rear Window Replacement
The rear window is the often forgotten, but not dissimilar, cousin to the front windscreen. While not utilized quite as much, it is still crucial to be able to drive safely on our populated roads, as well as serve as a structural support to the car.
While it may not incur as many stone chips as the front windscreen, when damaged, it does need to be replaced. Fortunately, it may have less sensors and display units than the font windscreen, so it is likely to be cheaper.
How do you know when it is time to replace your rear window?

There are also different criteria which determines a repair or replacement. Whilst the driver vision elements don’t apply in this instance, the size of chip and location do. The below are the chips that can be repaired.
How is a rear window replaced?
Similar to the front windscreen, your glassier will remove the rubber trim and sealant around the outside of the window, then lift out the old window using especially designed suction tools. The new windscreen is then fitted in the reverse order and appropriate rubbers and sealants added..
How much does a rear window replacement cost in Wellington?
The cost really depends on the technology in the car. The more modern the car, with more bells and whistles, likely means a higher cost of replacement and more labour time to fit it. A rear window replacement can range from a couple hundred dollars to a couple of thousand.
Is driving with a broken windscreen unsafe?
As the rear window is crucial for vision and structural integrity, it’s pretty important to have functioning correctly. We would highly recommend getting any damage repaired quickly to ensure safety of the car's occupants.
